(goto: "Who are You?")] Your golden comb is firmly grasped within your hand, running through your luxurious hair like black water. Normally a servant would aid you with your hair but today, you decided to not call Ms. Shen over yet.
You drift a hand over to various jars near the dull mirror, shining yourself with a brassy finish. Fishing one out, you open the lid and dip a finger inside. The substance is creamy, somewhat oily but it smells like roses and maybe a hint of tangerine. You never really thought about it, because it was a gift, but you take a generous dallop of the stuff. You run it through your long locks, combing through and watching that shine take hold.
You take a nearby cloth and ruffle through it with your fingers, removing as much of the greasy feel as you can. One of your claws accidentially pokes through the cloth. Not like that's never happened. You call Ms. Shen over to help with your hair; mostly because you aren't as good at styling it as she is. An old, but strong woman strides in quickly. She reminds you of a grandmother, but you know she's only here to serve.
"I want to wear my circlet today." You mumble, drawing out a slim golden circlet with small jadestones dangling off the front. Your favorite part of it is the jade eye, which matches your tattoo on your forehead. Ms. Shen pulls and tugs, but you don't feel much as you feel her skillful hands twist your hair into a firm and secure bun, finishing it with a decorative comb to hold it in place. She takes your favorite piece of jewelry off the table and sets it firmly on your head, completing today's look. She hastily bowed, then strided off to deal with her other errands.
[[Go Outside]]You feel so sore.
Your heart almost feels like it shattered into a million pieces.
Your eyes flutter awake, finding your nose buried in a few cream colored mushrooms and earth. There isn't much you remember but you feel your muscles twitch when you rise to your knees.
There's something wrong.
You feel... bare.
You try to scamper to your legs, but your forelegs and rearlegs feel different. Your head feels a bit heavier, your torso a little longer. You don't feel that familiar hunch and your strip of sandy fur running down your back feels longer. Your paws are different too, looking like grotesque grubs wiggling around on a flat rock. Your claws seem the same, but that doesn't matter.
Just as you were about to huff, you hear something. Strange unintelligable noises ring in your ears and your body starts to tremble. You look down at the ground at this pattern of mushrooms encircling around you. You see the blood from your catch, staining the ground. Did you change?
After several hours of foraging and collecting herbs, you stride through the makeshift path you made.
Even through the trees, you find it much past solar noon than anticipated. It's not long until you are out on the streets of Yengong, the capital of the empire. You roam around the lower class area, showing yourself off. Did you sneak away without any given permission to be here? Perhaps. Do you care much about it? No. Men and women glare in a jealous rage, or postrate before you, given that you will be the one to control their empire and their lives soon enough. It's very crowded today, but you think you'd manage just fine until you hear some very loud horses coming towards you at full speed.
Four guards spot you. Of course you had to be discovered just as you were beginning to enjoy yourself. You get grabbed by the scruff of your neck, rather painfully, and whisked away back home. It's irritating when you know your mother or father could care less about you, but they keep you around like a pet anyways.
Your rear bounces on the saddle, the sensation of riding a horse never felt right, but these meatheads turned out fine or something.
Up ahead, there's a commotion at the gates. There's soldiers, but much larger and heavily armored compared to any average guard. You'd almost be impressed, except for the fact they bear different colors and style of their equipment to the more common ones. Clearly, they were foreigners.
[[Investigate]]
You ask your guards to halt, as they were going to escort you in with force. They gave a deadpan expression as they were still going to walk you in. This time you ordered them to halt again with some more force. They seem to mumble amongst themselves, ignoring you when you finally scream at them.
There was a disturbance in the air. Almost like a sonic boom but you find most of everything unscathed, but maybe leaving some eardrums ringing and some dust stirred. They quickly scatter, out of fear of another freak out, leaving you and the foreigners alone. You felt some crackling and something dancing across your head. Little flashes of violet electricity scattered throughout until they slowly subsided.
The foreigners seemed to be just fine, although their armor did rattle a little. Good thing you put those guards in their place. You aren't afraid to use your powers. The gate was merely ajar, only allowing you and your guards to pass, but it seemed these newcomers, almost walking armies, seemed to large to fit. You sighed and waved off the last of the crackling, approaching the group. "State your place of origin and your business." You say, somewhat with authority, though your presence isn't very fearsome to most.
You have a feeling that you remember that style of armor, but just not right now.
One of them clunk forwards, their voice deep, bassy, but almost well meaning?
"We come from West Maica. There are some... diplomatic issues we must be attending to."
You squint at them. They're ambassadors?
"Are you ambassadors of Maica?"
"No."
You almost decide to shoo them off when the gate trembles, opening up for the newcomers. A young man jogged in his robes towards them, escorting them in. You almost shoot a dirty look at the young man, but yet again, your snark was foiled when you find a dangerously irritated looking emperor stepping up towards you.
Time feels agonizingly slow as you stand there and feel the impact of his palm to your cheek. A twinge in your heart says to tear him apart, but you know better than that. You rub where it hurts and you watch everyone disappear for a discussion.
